… now. I did not read the source code now and it is effectively a foreign language to me, but just being able to have modern features in it without too many dependencies is a different level of bliss. This time, I am glad I have the flexi patch to the rescue since, i passed on suckless terminal as a real alternative since I don’t want to patch it manually or solve merge conflicts! Even though I don’t like the elitist attitude of the project, can’t deny they got a point. Why does a terminal emulator need to be so complicated! https://github.com/bakkeby/st-flexipatch

I 100% agree `st` is pretty great and comparing bare bones is unfair. Thanks for that link! I suppose I should have provided a link to the variant I use which is https://github.com/bakkeby/st-flexipatch though I do have like 14 of my own private patches. :-) Because it really is a simple, hackable codebase. I will say, though, that I doubt there are many unicode conformance patches floating about. I don't know though, and I haven't looked.

“but there's also st-flexipatch https://github.com/bakkeby/st-flexipatch available which now includes sixel support”

i've been using xst https://github.com/gnotclub/xst , a fork of suckless st https://st.suckless.org/ for a long period, but there's also st-flexipatch https://github.com/bakkeby/st-flexipatch available which now includes sixel support edit: the article did mention st but claimed it had no scrollback, that's what the patches are for. st-flexipatch makes it easy to enable or disable the patches via c preprocessor defines.
