“I've tried Ghostty and it's great, but Kitty's hints mode”

I've tried Ghostty and it's great, but Kitty's hints mode[1] is the one feature keeping me from switching from Kitty to Ghostty. There are quite a few discussions around this and similar features in the Ghosstty-org/ghostty Discussions[2] which I follow. Most of them are references from ghostty-org/ghostty/discussions/2394[3]. Maybe now that Ghostty has finished implementing Kitty graphics hints will be next . there's scrollback search in the nightly build if that's an option for you (I've been using it a ton for a few months and haven't seen any bugs so far): https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/releases/tag/tip

I've been thoroughly impressed with tmux control mode[0] in iTerm2. This lets you manage remote terminal windows with your local window management provider. It is currently in the process of being implemented in ghostty[1] as well, can't wait! I prefer this policy: https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/blob/main/AI_POLICY.md > If you can't explain what your changes do and how they interact with the greater system without the aid of AI tools, do not contribute to this project. edit: added that quote
“This is super cool, it will be so nice to have a truly omni-platform terminal emulator that can even conceivably extend to iOS and Android.”

This is super cool, it will be so nice to have a truly omni-platform terminal emulator that can even conceivably extend to iOS and Android. Aside: I didn't realize Ghostty was written in Zig, wow. The first Zig-thing I'm aware of using on a regular basis. It's amusing the repository structure looks exactly like a Golang layout, haha. https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty

Zed isn’t special, I doubt Sublime Text has thousands of dependencies. It’s a language/culture problem. Edit: Ghostty is a good counter-example that is open source. https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/tree/main/pkg

“And by the looks of it Ghostty versions before this you couldn't even turn it off.”

Yeah, because more complexity where you don't expect it doesn't cost anything? Up until 5 hours ago this fix was not present: > The displayed target is sanitized so invisible and line-breaking characters cannot conceal the effective destination. https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/security/advisories/GHSA-cw69-wm67-5pv8 The sensible default is to have it turned off. And by the looks of it Ghostty versions before this you couldn't even turn it off.

The ctrl-tab tab switching behaviour being round-robin instead of stack[1] is what is keeping me on Konsole. None of the newer consoles (for Linux) seem to have this. [1] https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/discussions/2393

While I quite liked Ghostty to being with, the lack of a scripting API quickly drove me to WezTerm before long. See: https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/discussions/2353 I hope they prioritize scriptability soon. It's quite important to my personal git worktree ergonomics.
