I'm thinking maybe SeaweedFS [0, 2] or Versity Gatweway [1, 3] or RustFS [4]. Seems there are other options, too, e.g. Garage [5]. I only used MinIO briefly in the past, but it was good/worked, and I do plan to set up S3 blob storage again soon. I have not tried either myself, but I wanted to mention that Versity S3 Gateway looks good too. https://github.com/versity/versitygw I am also curious how Ceph S3 gateway compares to all of these.

Versity Gateway looks like a reasonable option here. I haven't personally used it, but I know some folks who say it performs pretty great as a "ZFS-backed S3" alternative. https://github.com/versity/versitygw Unlike other options like Garage or Minio, it doesn't have any clustering, replication, erasure coding, ... Your S3 objects are just files on disk, and Versity exposes it. I gather it exists to provide an S3 interface on top of their other project (ScoutFS), but it seems like it should work on any old filesystem.

Have been looking for minio alternative for long already. Found versitygw lately and would like to share the joy. It feels very promising. Fits to many small or lab use cases. It does not actually solve the trickiness of managing large storage but relies on the backend (that is usually fs like zfs in small setups). However, seems to be quite new project plus the risk, that the owning company takes it to bad direction, is there too. https://github.com/versity/versitygw/
